Modeling

When we think of modeling, images of Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer come to mind. However these celebrities only represent a small segment of the modeling industry.

TYPE OF MODELING

Comp Cards

Composite Cards, also called Zed Cards, are to models what business cards are for the rest of us, but in some ways even more important. A comp card contains photos of the model, along with the model’s information. The comp card also has our name and info as a contact person for the model.

A model should have 10-15 card at all times. Once you get your comp card, make them available to clients and photographers that you meet or at interviews. Always have a few with you at all times.

Model's Portfolio

A model's portfolio or "book" is an essential tool for getting work in the modeling profession. M.G.S. Agency can provide you with a modeling portfolio book to the new model at a reasonable cost. Of course it is up to the model to get the pages filled with the help from M.G.S.

Your portfolio should hold 10-15 photos and any tear sheets ( magazine photos) from previous work.

Your photos should include a head-shot, clear (no diffusion) and natural looking make-up.

You should have a full-length photo that shows your figure.

All your photos should have pizzazz, and should represent your best work and be flattering. Your photos should be 9 x 12 photos, which create the illusion of a taller more slender image.

NEGATIVES & RELEASES

Models need to understand that, the photographer owns the copyrights and negatives. Do not expect to get the negatives.

The photos and negatives belong to him.

How Does One Become a Model?

There are many answers to this question. Some models are "discovered" and become an overnight success. Most often however, models become successful only through hard work and many tedious interviews. Called “go-see”. Like most careers, it takes time for most models to reach a point where they are making a good income.

What Does M.G.S. Look for in a Model ?

At M.G.S. we are looking for new faces. We are looking for slender girls 5' 8" for fashion.

Editorial models should be attractive, 5' 6" tall, high cheek-bones, large eyes and full sensuous lips and willing to shoot glamour.

What Else Should I Know?

Despite the glamour and hype you may have seen about the modeling profession, it's hard work. It's boring. It's tedious. It's filled with rejection. It's a life style, not an 8-5 job. And to start with you don't always make a lot of money.
